Tamlyn Construction Ltd. was established in 1984 by Doug Tamlyn in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Over the past 30 years, we have completed a range of projects across the Halifax Regional Municipality (HRM) including land development, residential and commercial renovations, and new residential construction.

Tamlyn Construction has evolved into a family business specializing in high-quality, energy-efficient custom homes and renovations. Since the 1980s, our homes have exceeded national energy efficiency standards and we continue to implement new technologies such as ICF insulation block foundations and geothermal heating. We offer our clients the opportunity to work with a range of superior craftsmen and quality products to inspire them to design the home of their dreams from the ground up, no matter the price point or style.

We are inspired by the natural beauty of Nova Scotia and our company has developed land in the Purcell’s Cove area of Halifax. Phase I, Fortress Drive, and Phase II, Aaron’s Way, both near York Redoubt off the Purcell’s Cove road, were projects of Tamlyn Construction and Aspen Resources, our sister land development company. We have built over twenty custom homes in these subdivisions since 1990. We are currently in the beginning stages of the final phase of land development, consisting of five lots on Tamridge Lane.

Who we are

DOUG TAMLYN, MHA, BSc, is the President of Tamlyn Construction Ltd. and has over 30 years experience in the construction industry. He completed a Masters in Health Administration from Dalhousie University in 1978 and, after several years working in the hospital sector, followed his passion for landscape design and home construction. He hasn’t looked back since, and his love for finding ways to build homes in ways that complement their natural environment and minimize their environmental impact has helped him carve out a niche as a land developer and custom home builder.

DEBORAH TAMLYN, PhD, MED, BN, is the President of Aspen Resources Ltd. and has been indirectly involved in Tamlyn Construction since its inception. Although her full-time job as a nursing university professor and consultant keeps her busy, she often has a hand in home design choices and client relations.

AARON TAMLYN, BComm, joined Tamlyn Construction in 2010 and is a full-time carpenter with experience in ICF block foundations, framing, and finish work. He has particular interest in energy efficiency and has completed course work through the Nova Scotia Homebuilders’ Association.
